Kumeu Show 2013 - the animals

Agricultural shows have animals all ways - farm animals on display, competition animals, and petting zoos. We spent time looking at all of them, because animals are great!

Animal exhibits are always popular with families

Naw, little pigs...

I accidentally got into a staring contest with this alpaca

Alpacas are so sweet

Award winning!

Tiny horses in the petting zoo

Male pheasants are really pretty, up close.

Dog trials are so much fun. This furry girl had a great time!

This race is hard to describe. Needless to say, the dogs enjoyed it.

Is there anything that Border Collies *aren't* awesome at?

This dog was more hair than anything else!

Go dog go!

  1. Border collies aren't so great at sitting still and being quiet for long periods of time, but other than that, NOPE. Also, that little wrinkly piglet at the front? I need to squidge him. Although I'm guessing he probably wouldn't like to be squidged. Sad...

    1. Good point about the border collies.

Actually, we talked about how a pig would make a great pet, if only they didn't get too big. They don't smell, are friendly, and smart. Basically, they're like a physically denser dog ;-)

  2. Sheep dog trials are the best! I could have stayed and watched them all day when I went to the Bendigo Sheep and Wool show.

    Your photos are gorgeous.

    1. Thanks Katie!

We actually chose to go on Sunday instead of Saturday BECAUSE of the dog trials. And it was worth it.

    1. Thank you! I think action shots of dogs cheer everyone up, and who couldn't do with some more cheer? :-)
