It's been too hot this weekend to really do any sewing. We just have one little fan to cool our house with, which is redundant if the sewing machine and the iron heat up the room.
So instead, I bought a $40 pool. It's the maximum amount that I wanted to spend, and we only have a tiny flat space outside our house. As it turns out, it isn't even flat because the water is kind of pointing downhill! It has a Laserlite pergola roof though, so I can avoid sunburn.
We don't need a pool fence because it has less than 400mm of water in it - I'll empty it out during the week, too. Can't imagine the water would be too clean by next weekend...
Anyway, the local wildlife is already enjoying it!
I'm not sure I'd like to share a pool with that sort of wildlife! It does sound like such a good idea, though - it just makes me a little sad my house is built on a hill with only flat space that is overrun by ants.
ReplyDeleteI've got ants too, they just wouldn't hold still for a photo! He was only a tiny little brown spider, and we had enough space to share.
DeleteThere's barely enough room for the pool, which is about 1.8m in diameter... I contemplated a slip'n'slide, but there's a concrete path at the bottom of the slope ;-)
I definitely wouldn't want to share a pool with that wildlife!! It's nice to have a way to cool down though :)
ReplyDeleteHe looks more menacing than he really was :-)
DeleteIt's not exactly a 'swimming' pool, but it works for the purpose of sitting and reading a book - which is fine by me.
I sit in my kids paddling pool too when its hot. I am waiting for the day when they will let me read a book while there .....
ReplyDeleteI imagine it is less relaxing with kids!
DeleteGreat pic of the spider! Poor thing suffer in the heat too I guess. I'm a little envious - so relaxing to sit in cool water in the shade on a stinking day!
ReplyDeleteYes, I care for the welfare of all living beings in my yard :-)
DeleteIt was GREAT to cool off in there... and today it's cold. Oh well.
