Road trip to Hawke's Bay

My road trip photography is nowhere near as interesting as Katie's, but I've given it a go!

We recently took a four-day weekend to drive to Hawke's Bay for a model aeroplane contest. I was more interested in eating good food and drinking good wine though...

A cheese factory! Can't say no to a spot of brunch here.

This was the greatest croque monsieur ever. Three kinds of delicious cheese...

For those of you who don't know, New Zealand is hilly and green.

My friends and workmates built this bridge!

I've lived here nearly half a decade, and I still get excited about pointy snow-capped mountains.

Follow that wine truck!!!!!

Why bother to have a shed at all, if you won't paint messages on it?

At last. A place to spa AND watch crappy movies on Sky.

  1. You know it's going to be a good trip when there's a cheese factory involved!

I especially loved your on-the-road photos here - it was like a fast-forwarded version of your trip.

    1. Thanks Katie! You're the road trip queen :-)

(and yes, cheese is always welcome)

  2. Mmmmmmmm, cheeeeeeeeeeeeese... OM NOM NOM NOM NOM. I'll pass on the wine though. Is there a nearby cider factory?!?! ;)

    1. I can't say I looked for cider, but Hawke's Bay is also a fruit-growing region so no doubt there is cider somewhere!

I totally want a croque monsieur right now.

  3. There has got to be nothing cooler than driving over a bridge someone you know has had a hand in putting there!!! Uber cool. Your road trip looks entirely enviable :)

    1. Oh, I know! And even better is that there are quite a few bridges on the North Island thta my mates can take the credit for :-)

My unofficial status as a North Island travel agent still stands. If you're ever planning a trip, I can definitely advise on good places to visit!
