Toffee Coffee

As promised, here's the description of the AMAZING toffee coffee at Michener's Restaurant on Iririki Island...

They wheel a little stove out to your table. Then, the sugar is melted.

The cup is rimmed with delightful toffee, which hardens into a lovely crunch.

Mmm.

Now the coffee is added. Tanna Island (another part of Vanuatu) is known for its coffee-growing.

Now for the awesome bit! Who doesn't love to see drinks on fire? The alcohol of choice is one part dark rum and one part Creme de Cacao.

But what is this that I spy? Toffee baskets, of course.

The finished treat, with cream on top! Wow, it's alcoholic. And sweet. And fattening. And delicious. And amazing. And et cetera.

It's a Vanuatu must-do!

  2. Oh wow, that look amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing!!!! Obviously, me and coffee aren't friends, but I reckon you could make it work with hot chocolate. And then, you know, instantly slip into a diabetic coma from all the sugar........ ;)

    1. Good question! Yep, I ate the toffee baskets first (with my fingers), and then I sort of required a shower :-D

    1. You know what's crazy? It was about $8. Which, even compared to the price of other food in Vanuatu, was actually *cheap*!
