Air shows and photos

I'm hoping to get to some sewing this (looong) weekend. In the meantime, click below to see what we did last weekend:

Woke up early. Too early. Same time as I wake up on weekdays (05:45). Packed my carry-on luggage, including the requisite camera and lenses.

Stumbled our way from the Engineering carpark to the domestic terminal at Auckland airport. Looked for the people in the black t-shirts with the white koru.

Got boarding passes. Nearly awake! Trooped to a gate lounge so far away I didn't even know it existed.

Bus. Tarmac. Steps. 777-300.

Then it was flight time! We were super lucky - Chris got us tickets on the big, new, All Black Boeing which was on its way to the Ohakea airshow... only about half an hour away by jet, but a 6 hour drive otherwise.

We had a FABULOUS day in the sun down south. Hope you like my slideshow!!

Keep safe on your Easter break, my friends.

  1. I love the photos!! Looks like you guys would have had an awesome time. I particularly liked the one guy wearing a Storm Trooper outfit in one of the photos next to the...Hercules?? (My ability to identify planes is pretty awful, and mostly courtesy of watching Top Gun!)

Hope your Easter is extra chocolatey :)

  2. It was perfect weather for an airshow, albeit hot and without shade. That Storm Trooper must have been baking. Apparently he was in front of a Globemaster. No, I didn't know what any of the aeroplanes were called, either. Except for the Boeings, and the Hornets.

Maybe next airshow, Chris can rent me a 400mm lens ;-)

Hope your Easter is great too!

    1. Thanks! I'm definitely working on my photography, and a long way from being a professional - but getting a lot more 'keepers' out of every event :-D
