Goodbye 2011!

I'm looking forward to 2012 being a year of personal achievement, because quite frankly - this year was mostly not great. I don't want to dwell on that though, so what was good?

1. Learning to use my DSLR that I got last Christmas. It's been a challenge for me, as I like to really understand the equipment I use. I've put in a lot of practice and research - and at last, I feel comfortable using all the settings!
One of my favourite photos from Central Park
2. Travelling to the United States and hanging out with awesome people. I have always wanted to visit Disney World, the Kennedy Space Center, and my American mom in Connecticut. This year, I got to do that, along with Miami, Washington DC, New York, and Boston. Huge thanks to Chris, Kirsti, Sara, Lauren and Paul for being great travel companions!

3. Bridesmaiding at Kate's wedding. As expected, much fun was had! Congrats to Kate and Cal!

4. Selling my first photos. I'm proud of this, and I'm working up to an actual business. More on that in the New Year!

Here's to next year being better! Happy 2012, everyone!

  1. Sounds like a great year! Congratulations with the DSLR, I'm still learning and am coming to a professional class in Feb. You've inspired me! I hope 2012 is an amazing year for you and your family :)

  2. Thanks Vanisha! I love learning more about photography - can't wait to see the results of your class!

  3. You are gifted with your photography! Keep at it, and all the best to you in the coming year!

  4. Thanks Shannon! I look forward to seeing more of your creations in 2012, too :-)

  5. Wish you an awesome 2012 Kat - all dreams and wishes come true.

  6. Same to you Suzy! I hope 2012 is a good year for you too.

  7. You're right, I AM a great travel companion! Also the first beach photo is amazing. It looks like a painting!

  8. You are indeed a great travel companion - I'd recommend you!

Thank you so much for the compliment about my photo! This year I aim to increase my percentage of 'keepers' (as opposed to 'deleters'). Comments like yours make it easier to keep trying harder :-)

  9. Wow that b&w photo from Central Park is stunning - great work!

All the best for a bright 2012:)

  10. Thanks Cheryl! I hope you have great year too :-)
