Cleaning the jewels

I really don't have much jewellery of great value! I tend to wear my silver jewellery quite a lot though, and it gets really grimy.

It's a rather prosaic topic for a blog post, but sometimes I have to do boring things even when I'm not at work... hopefully you might find this useful though.

Here is what you need:

Foil, an old toothbrush, white vinegar, hot water, detergent, and some paper towels.

Also, dirty silver or white gold jewellery. Make sure it is not silver *plated*, and be wary of cleaning jewellery that has stones (diamonds are fine, others may not be). If in doubt, don't.

Fill a little container with hot water. Splash in a little detergent and vinegar. Crumple the foil and put it in too.

Then drop in the jewellery. Leave it to soak for five minutes or so. Give it a quick once over with the toothbrush, and leave it on the paper towel to dry.

Yeah, the water goes pretty gross and murky. But the jewellery will be shining!!
